Bemidji's Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) program and School Readiness Preschool (SR) are for all families in the Bemidji School District who have preschool age children. We recognize that parents are a child's first and most important teachers -- and that sometimes parents need support and encouragement for this responsibility! As soon as you have your baby, please feel free to join this class! We offer a chance to connect with other new parents and answer questions you have about your new role as parent! We will discuss parenting issues, learn about child's development and talk about what you can do at home to encourage and appreciate your wonderful child.
Since children are at different levels of development at varying ages, they learn from one another as they play, interact, and develop skills. Classes include parent and child interaction time as an opportunity to spend uninterrupted quality time with your child. Parents then separate for a facilitated parent group while the children continue playing, interacting, and developing skills with the Early Childhood Teacher. At the end of class, parents and children reconnect for circle time with stories, songs, and fingerplays.
Your toddler is busy exploring the world and this class is designed to be your time to slow down and enjoy your child. You will experience a variety of hands-on activities, sing songs, participate in creative and messy projects, learn about your child's development and enjoy a facilitated discussion with a licensed parent educator
